Nesta quinta-feira, 22 de janeiro, às 19h (horário de Brasília), o programa “Edilson Correia Em Comunidade” receberá como entrevistado o Capelão Washington Luiz, atual presidente do Conselho Federal de Capelania – CONFECAP Brasil/EUA, uma das maiores referências nacionais e internacionais em capelania humanitária voluntária.

O Conselho Federal de Capelania (CONFECAP) é o órgão oficialmente credenciado para organizar nacionalmente o trabalho humanitário voluntário de capelania, com atuação amparada pela Constituição Federal Brasileira (artigo 5º, inciso VII), pela Lei Federal nº 9.982, de 14 de julho de 2000, e pelo Decreto 148 da Convenção de Haia.
A instituição é responsável pela organização, fiscalização, capacitação, credenciamento e certificação de voluntários capelães, que prestam assistência humanitária a pessoas em situação de vulnerabilidade emocional, física e espiritual.
História, expansão e atuação global
Fundada em março de 1998, em Brasília (DF), e oficialmente registrada em 2009, a CONFECAP se expandiu rapidamente, atuando em diversos estados e municípios do Brasil e em vários países, consolidando-se como uma instituição de alcance internacional.
Atualmente, a CONFECAP conta com mais de 900 mil capelães voluntários espalhados pelo mundo, desenvolvendo trabalho humanitário em hospitais, presídios e demais unidades de internação coletiva, atendendo enfermos, internos, familiares e funcionários, com acolhimento, orientação e apoio espiritual.

The interview will highlight the voluntary work of more than 900,000 chaplains worldwide and CONFECAP’s projects for 2026.
This Thursday, January 22, at 7:00 p.m. (Brasília time), the program “Edilson Correia Em Comunidade” will host an interview with Chaplain Washington Luiz, current President of the Federal Council of Chaplaincy – CONFECAP Brazil/USA, one of the leading national and international references in humanitarian volunteer chaplaincy.
The interview will be conducted remotely, with Chaplain Washington Luiz speaking directly from the United States, while broadcaster Edilson Correia will be in Maringá, Brazil, providing an exclusive conversation about the challenges, achievements, and future perspectives of chaplaincy work for 2026.

CONFECAP: Organization and Legal Framework
The Federal Council of Chaplaincy (CONFECAP) is the officially accredited body responsible for organizing humanitarian volunteer chaplaincy work nationwide, operating under the legal protection of the Brazilian Federal Constitution (Article 5, Item VII), Federal Law No. 9,982 of July 14, 2000, and Decree 148 of the Hague Convention.
CONFECAP is responsible for the organization, oversight, training, credentialing, and certification of volunteer chaplains who provide humanitarian assistance to individuals in situations of emotional, physical, and spiritual vulnerability.

Founded in March 1998 in Brasília, Federal District, and officially registered in 2009, CONFECAP has expanded rapidly, operating in several Brazilian states and municipalities and in multiple countries worldwide, establishing itself as an organization with international reach.
Today, CONFECAP has more than 900,000 volunteer chaplains worldwide, carrying out humanitarian work in hospitals, prisons, and other collective care institutions, assisting patients, inmates, family members, and staff through support, guidance, and spiritual care.
